thisismyplacetobe: A ‘Ring of Fire’ solar eclipse is a rare phenomenon that occurs when the moon’s orbit is at its apogee: the part of its orbit farthest away from the Earth. Because the moon is so far away, it seems smaller than normal to the human eye. The result is that the moon doesn’t entirely block out our view of the sun, but leaves an “annulus,” or ring of sunlight glowing around it. Hence the term  “annular” eclipse rather than a “total” eclipse.

Over the last week people have been partaking in the Ice Bucket Challenge to spread awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The rules go, once you are nominated for the Challenge you have 24 hours to complete it and pass it on or you can donate to the cause. The link to their website can be found HERE. Help spread awareness and donate if you can! Will you be an Elsa or an Anna?

A belated #tbt in memory of one of my childhood idols and family friend, Gordon Fullerton. I wish that I could’ve spent more time with him in his final years, hearing of his rich experience flying an extensive range of aircraft as well as two space shuttle orbiters. Can’t think of a better way to remember him than to take to the skies today… (at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX))
